Barleylands Craft Village – Milliner in Residence (that’s me!)

As some of you may know I am officially the milliner in residence at Barleylands Craft Village.  So I thought I’d give you a little more information about what and where Barleylands is.

Barleylands is in the heart of Essex in Billericay.  It has a farm and children’s play area and is the host to a lot of exciting events throughout the year, including the massive Essex Country Show.  But what I love Barleylands for is its craft village.

There are over 50 different craft disciplines on display in the studio’s ranging from glass blowing to quilting; wood turning to cake making.  There really is every thing you could ever think of at Barleylands.  There is even a blacksmith’s forge!

As well as all of these great studios where you can watch the crafts being carried out and buy items from, there are also a lot of classes too.  So if you want to take a try at glass cutting and leading, or sitting at a potter’s wheel there are loads of classes you can try

As you can imagine when the chance arose to be the milliner in residence I jumped at it!  I don’t have my own studio there……yet, but I have a display cabinet in Studio 23 which I update regularly and allows me to show every one what I am currently working on.

Aside from all of this creative brilliance in one place, it is just a great day out for everyone.  If ever you are in Essex and want a nice day out…..I urge you to visit Barleylands you won’t be disappointed! 🙂
