Today I’m showing you all of the photos of my ribboned fascinator from last year.
I had previously made a few different ribboned fascinators, but they had always been 1 block colour, but lots of different ribbons like this one……
And then whilst I was on a hen weekend in Yorkshire last year I found myself in the most fabulous little haberdashery! I think the other hens thought I was a strange girl…..they were in hunt for the chocolate factory….and I was lost in ribbons! I came across metres and metres of the most delicate, yet vibrant woven ribbons. It is unusual to get such intricate patterns in woven ribbons these days; most are printed & thus not as good quality. Needless to say I was absolutely forced to buy lots of the ribbons that were there.
When I got home I put them away in a box…..not to be seen for some months…..as you do with these things! And then all of a sudden it dawned on me as to what I could use them for……
I have to give major kudos to my model Nic here…..this was right at the end of the day. It was a cold January & she was freezing. She was a right flipping trooper though. What you can’t see in these photo’s is that in a lot of them I am on my hands and knees holding a big winter coat around her legs! I *heart* this girl….she was still cracking jokes whilst her teeth chattered!
And I know you are all dying to know….this fascinator has now sold. Here is the lovely Sara wearing it at Ascot last summer. It was a complete one-off & won’t be found anywhere else in the world 🙂
