As we saw the announcement of Princess Eugenie to her long term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank last week, I thought I’d take a look at some of her wonderful hats!
Obviously Eugenie is used to wearing hats & fascinators; and her comfort in this is obvious. She wears a wide range of all styles & designs; but one style that I have seen her in a few times recently, is a fairly plain hat shape, with a shallow crown or a saucer disc with a bold decoration. I adore this felt hat below, with what looks like leather feathers on it.
Princess Eugenie wore this hat to Royal Ascot last year, and again you can see the beautiful simplicity that works so well for her.

She wore this gorgeous feathered piece to Royal Ascot 10 years ago; but it wouldn’t be out of place if worn today too; some pieces are just totally timeless.
I also think it’s important to show Princess Eugenie wearing more “subtle” pieces; she’s well known for her style of classic clothing with elaborate accessories but sometimes she wears very discrete pieces. And in a strange way, because they are so discrete, they are actually making quite a statement, reminding us that she does not need to hide behind any large decorative piece as she is happy as she is. This pretty piece has a few delicate leaves placed on it, in neutral tones.
Princess Eugenie wore this simple black button fascinator to Royal Ascot; the event of the year to show off your love of millinery, but she goes against what is expected of her to wear this small piece.
And can we just all show the love for this hat! Look how young Princess Eugenie is…and yet already she is wearing a daring design, with an unusual shape & decoration. I love it!
I must say, I really like Princess Eugenie’s millinery style….but looking through these photos I think this gorgeous lime green front facing saucer disc is my favourite piece she has worn. This was worn to Royal Ascot in 2009 & yet would still be seen as breath taking today!
You can see here that the disc is placed on a small percher button base in the centre of the head to ensure it is lifted off of her face.
I think the colour combination she has gone for here is fabulous too! It’s so bright & works so well with the bright purple jacket she has teamed it with. I do love contrasting colour blocking.
You can really see in this photo the shape of the disc & the nice pointed centre that is in the middle of it. There is a lovely twisted bow at the side in the same shade of lime green.
What a lovely piece of millinery, perfect for a Princess to wear to Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot.
And so, all that’s left to say is to wish both Princess Eugenie & Jack a lovely engagement & I cannot wait to see what everyone will wear to your wedding!
