My Favourite Hat – Royal Ascot 2017 – Day 2

Last year I wrote a blog post on the millinery event of the year, Royal Ascot. Each day I did a round up of my favourite hats & then choose 2 winners for me. Here is a link to the original post on Day 2 and the hat that I choose as my favourite that day was worn by Holly Willoughby.

I think this black design is incredibly elegant. Made up from a large black straw percher base, it is then decorated with abstract swirls, in silk abaca.
As you can see here, from the side view, the decoration sweeps up from one anchor point at the front of the base of the hat.

It’s a very modern design which generates a lot of height with the structured swirls. And this is another wonderful example of less being more; it’s the space in between the loops that give the eye something to concentrate on; rather than a dense knot.

Teamed with a classic a-line dress, in a floral monochrome print, Holly looks chic & fresh. I’m looking forward to seeing what she wears this year.
