I found this gorgeous blue tweed material and knew I wanted to make a trilby with it; but I wanted to do one with an assymetrical brim. I love how a brim can totally change the style and feel to a hat…..
Rather than add a band of ribbon that you get on a tradtional trilby, I decided to layer the material with a gorgeous piece of blue vintage velvet that I found. The pale blue really lifts this piece and brightens it. I finished off the design with two tweed pom poms to add a little extra detail.
When Saffron Sprackling came to my studio, she loved this hat too! But in keeping with her well known colour theme of red and black I made this for her in these colours. You can read about her hat here.
I love this, as it just shows how any hat can be changed or altered to suit your needs and outfit.
Anyway…..back to the original trilby, which is still for sale and would look fabulous this winter with just any outfit!
