FAQs Your Questions Answered

If you have any query whatsoever that is not answered on this page, please do get in touch. I am always happy to hear from you!

  • Do I need an apointment?

Yes – for guaranteed time and attention, I ask clients to book private appointments. This will give you the shop all to yourself, so you can relax and choose your hat or fascinator in private. To book an appointment please call or email me.

  • When are you open?

I am incredibly flexible and accommodating to my clients, as I understand that you have a busy life. You'll be able to book an appointment at a time that suits you, but I suggest contacting me 8 weeks in advance of needing your hat, so I am sure to have time to make it before your event.

  • Do I need to bring my outfit to the appointment?

Yes. I need to be able to see the style of your outfit and the colour too.

  • Do you have hats & fascinators ready to buy?

Yes, some designs are available to buy immediately, but most of my clients prefer to have a hat or fascinator made to order to match their outfit style and colour.

  • What is the lead time for an order?

Ideally, I need 6 weeks to create your hat or fascinator, but this can vary if I already have fabric in the suitable colour.

  • How much does a fascinator / hat cost?

Fascinators start from £45 and hats start from £250.

  • Do you hire hats?

We do not hire hats, as I believe that that all my clients deserve hats chosen to suit their style, outfit and event, and fit their head perfectly. You're likely to fall in love with your Katie Vale Designs hats, so wouldn't want to give it back if it was hired!

  • Can you alter hats?

Yes – I am happy to alter any Katie Vale Designs hat that I've made for you.

  • Do you stock bridal accessories?

Yes - I have lots of bridal tiaras, combs and headbands in stock. Come and have a look!

  • Do you teach millinery?

I love creating hats, but I am not a teacher. If you're looking for advice on training, please get in touch and I'd be happy to help.

  • I have seen a design online elsewhere; will you copy a photo of another hat?

Instead of copying other milliners' designs, I ask clients to visit my shop and see the huge range of styles, designs, fabrics and looks available. You’ll be spoiled for choice, and the online hat that originally took your interest will be a distant memory.
